Dreams come true at The British Museum

02 February 2017, by Anne Aitken

Anne Aitken is delighted to introduce our new Venue in the Spotlight – The British Museum.

Not only is this spectacular building home to millions of extraordinary objects from all over the world, its central hub -  the glass domed Great Court designed by Sir Norman Foster – is an architectural masterpiece and the largest covered public square in Europe.

Corporate partners and sponsors can entertain in the Great Court and in many of the galleries throughout the Museum. Clients and guests continue to be wowed by the beautiful spaces and return time and time again as new exhibitions from all over the world bring something new to see and talk about.

We’ve been an accredited supplier at the Museum for over 5 years but we still get a thrill from working in this glorious building. From a charity gala in the stunning Great Court, an intimate dinner in the Enlightenment Gallery or drinks among the pharaohs in the atmospheric Egyptian Sculpture Gallery, you can find a space in the Museum to suit a variety of event formats with long or short guest lists.

The whole Jackson Gilmour team is really excited about the Museum’s new spring exhibition, The American Dream: Pop to Present.  This major exhibition of modern and contemporary American printmaking charts six dynamic and turbulent decades in the history of this global superpower through its output of contemporary art. This rich period of history - which included JFK’s assignation, Apollo 11, Vietnam, the AIDS crisis, racism and gender politics - inspired artists like Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns and Julie Mehretu to experiment boldly with printmaking.

The sheer inventiveness and technical ingenuity of these works reflects America’s power and influence during this period. Many of the pieces also address the deep divisions in society that continue to resonate with us today – it seems there are as many American dreams as there are Americans.

We have created bespoke menus and presentation themes to complement the style of these “American Dreams” and we would love to hear from you if you would like more information about dates and availability.
